KINDERGARTEN-8th STUDENTS: SCHOOL BEGINS PROMPTLY AT 7:30 A.M.
Students arriving at school after 7:45 a.m. are considered tardy.
PRESCHOOL STUDENTS MUST BE AT SCHOOL BY 8:00 A.M.
Parents should contact the school office to report absence due to illness.
PROPER SCHOOL UNIFORMS ARE REQUIRED DAILY.
SHOES MUST BE ALL BLACK. See parent handbook for details.
MANDATORY SERVICE HOURS ARE 30 PER FAMILY. ELSE A PAYMENT OF $100.00 IS DUE.

AUGUST 2017:

Tuesday, 8th Preschool Parent Orientation at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, 10th Kindergarten-8th Parent Orientation at 6:30 p.m.

SEPTEMBER 2017:

Tuesday, 5th School begins. First day of school - Full day - Uniform required for all students - Preschool – 8th.
Wednesday,6th Chapel (Wednesdays - No Shorts/No Polo)
Dress - Shirt and tie are required. Chapel for 4th-8th begins at 9:00 a.m.
Bible required (new international version) daily.
Chapel for K-3rd begins at 10:00 a.m.
Monday, 18th Fundraiser kickoff - 38th year anniversary
Each family is responsible for selling a total of $100.00 worth of items from the holiday catalog due by December 1st.
Monday, 18th Homework assistance/tutorial program is conducted between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Fee is $25.00 per week - Monday through Thursday.

OCTOBER 2017: CANCER AWARENESS MONTH - Celebrate a drug-free life.

Thursday, 5th “Back-to-school night - Kindergarten-8th - 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Friday, 6th Spirit wear begins for preschool through 8th grade. Students who do not have spirit wear must wear the required school uniform.
Monday, 9th COLUMBUS DAY. The entire facility will be closed.
Tuesday, 10th Progress Report #1 - Kindergarten-8th grade.
Tuesday, 10th P.T.S.G. meeting at 6:15 p.m. for all parents. Earn a free dress pass for your child and 1 service hour.
Thursday, 12th Preschool department - Open house - 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, 17th In-house science fair kickoff field trip 3rd-8th grades.
Saturday 21st Parent empowerment seminar #1 at 10:00 a.m. - Kindergarten-8th grade. Mandatory participation/attendance - Earn 2 service hours. Penalty of $50.00 will be applicable for those who do not participate.
Friday, 27th Report card conference #1. Advance sign up required to meet with your child’s teacher. No classroom instruction for K – 8th grade students. Day care provided for students enrolled in the day care program. All other students will be charged $20.00 for the day. Free dress for all students, preschool through 8th grades.
Monday, 30th Picture day - Preschool through 1st grade.
Tuesday, 31st Picture day - 2nd through 8th grades
All students taking pictures may wear non-uniform clothing for their personality pictures, but must bring school uniform for class picture. See office for picture packets and prices.

NOVEMBER 2017:

Wednesday, 1st Canned food drive begins for needy families.
Friday, 3rd Preschool Harvest Banquet and Program at 3:00 p.m. Immediate family only. Bring a dish for 15 people.
Tuesday, 7th Science fair project title due (#1) 3rd-8th grade
Wednesday, 8th Awards ceremony Kindergarten-3rd at 8:00 a.m. and 4th-8th at 9:30 a.m.
Friday, 10th Veteran’s day. Entire school closed.
Thursday, 16th Science fair project question due (#2) 3rd-8th grade
Friday, 17th Kindergarten-8th grade - Harvest banquet and program at 3:00 p.m.
Immediate family only. Bring a dish for 15 people.
Tuesday, 21st Science fair project research due #3 3rd-8th grades
Wednesday, 22nd Day of Thanksgiving - 9:00 a.m. Combined chapel Kindergarten - 8th. Parents are welcome.
Wednesday, 22nd Science fair project hypothesis due #4 - 3rd – 8th Grades.
Thursday, 23rd Thanksgiving day - Entire facility closed.
Friday, 24th Day after Thanksgiving - Entire facility closed.

Friday, 15th Last day of instruction before winter day care and break.

Tuesday, 6th Science fair project report due #9 - 3rd - 8th grade
Wednesday, 7th Career Day - 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Parents sign-up and earn double service hours. Educate students in the various career fields available after college. Encourage students to stay in school, reach for the sky and pray.
Friday, 9th Mother son sweetheart date. Preschool through 8th grade in the cafeteria for moms and their sons.
Monday, 12th Lincoln’s Birthday. Entire facility closed
Tuesday, 13th Progress report #3 - Kindergarten-8th grade
Thursday, 15th Science fair project boards due #10 - 3rd-8th grade
Saturday, 17th P.T.S.G. pancake breakfast - 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Each family is required to sell 5 tickets totaling $35.00.

APRIL 2018: REGISTRATION BEGINS FOR ALL STUDENTS​

Monday, 2nd through Friday, 6th Standardized test week - 3rd - 8th grade
Tuesday, 10th P.T.S.G. meeting at 6:15 p.m. for all parents. Earn a free dress pass for your child and 1 service hour.
Wednesday, 11th Day of Praise - 9:00 a.m. - Combined chapel – Kindergarten-8th grade.
Parents are welcome.
Friday, 13th Good Friday. Entire school closed.
Monday, 16th through Friday, 20th Spring break. Day care available - 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Free Dress for all students. There will be a $20.00 charge for those who need child care but are not enrolled in the day care/extended day care program. Refer to handbook or see office for details.
Monday, 23rd Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week begins. Parents and students can show appreciation and gratitude in special ways. Praise god for our teachers and support staff. Thank you parents for your support.
Friday, 27th Teacher/Staff Appreciation Day. Kindergarten-8th Grade Teachers will be off.
No classroom instruction. Day care will be provided from 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. for students enrolled in the day care/extended care program. All other students will be charged $20.00 for the day.

MAY 2018: MANDATORY SERVICE HOURS ARE DUE MAY 31st​

Friday, 4th Progress report #4 due - Kindergarten - 8th grade
Thursday, 10th Meet-the-Teacher Night - 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Parents of preschool through 7th grade students can come and meet their child’s teacher for the next school term.
Saturday, 12th Optimal Christian Academy Concert 2017 featuring Signs in Motion, Angels in Praise, Heavenly Angels, Optimal Choir and Princess Feet Dancers at 1:00 p.m. Lynwood High School Auditorium. Tickets are $12.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door for all seats. Each dancer is responsible for selling 5 tickets at $12.00 each, totaling $60.00, due by Monday, April 24, 2017.
Friday, 18th P.T.S.G. Fish Fry and Brown Bag Day. The kitchen will be closed after breakfast is served. Students may bring a sack lunch from home or purchase a P.T.S.G. fish fry lunch for $5.00. Parents can earn double service hours. Sign up to volunteer.

JUNE 2018:

Monday, 28th Memorial Day. Entire school closed.

Finals week begins for 6th-8th grade.
Friday, 1st Finals week continues for 6th-8th grade.
Tuesday, 5th Preschool Department Awards Ceremony at 9:00 a.m.
Tuesday, 12th P.T.S.G. closeout meeting at 6:15 p.m.
Wednesday, 13th Pre-Kindergarten graduation exercise at 10:00 a.m.
Thursday, 14th 8th grade graduation exercise at 10:00 a.m.
Friday, 15th Last day of school term. Pick up report cards and Stanford test results. Report cards/transcript will not be released until all balances are paid in full.
Graduation/promotion participation will be denied without all balances paid in full.
